Carrie J. Smith (Cross), 31, of Sergeant Bluff, IA passed away at her home on Saturday, November 17, 2012.Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE with Sister Valerie James officiating. Visitation with family will begin one hour prior to the service. Online condolences to the family may be posted at www.mohrfuneralhome.com .Carrie was born in Springville, Arkansas on April 8, 1981, the daughter of Howard "Sonny" Cross and Tammy (Barr) Eakins. Carrie grew up in the Des Moines, IA area before graduating from Everly High School, Everly, IA. She worked in the human resources department for UPS for over ten years in Des Moines, IA. Carrie had three beautiful children before she married Justin Smith. They were blessed with one more daughter.Carrie's children were her passion and she loved doing crafts with them. She was an amazing mother, sister, aunt, daughter, wife and friend. Carrie's smile and sense of humor were a one of a kind. For those that were blessed to have known Carrie, they will remember her for her strength, her compassion, her heart, and her apple pies. She always put others first and sacrificed so much for so many. Carrie Jo, you will forever be in our hearts.Survivors include her husband, Justin Smith; 4 children, Joshua, McKayla, Jeremiah and Lanaya; her father, Sonny (Kim) Cross; mother Tammy (Jim) Eakins; brothers, P.J. (Jessica) Cross, John Paul (Cat) Cross; sister, Kristina; step-brother, Jimmer Eakins; and best friends and partners in crime, Nicole Horak, Heather Huffman, Tanya Windschitl, and Jenni Fischer.Memorial Contributions may be made to Justin Smith to help pay for funeral expenses.
