IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carolyn Kay
Starks
February 5, 1944 – January 31, 2026
Carolyn Kay Starks, 81, a loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished foster parent, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at a care center in Omaha.
Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on February 5, 1944, in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Rex and Ethel (Stewart) Bean, Carolyn's life was a testament to her kindness, patience, and unwavering strength, qualities that she shared generously with all who crossed her path.
A proud graduate of Emerson-Hubbard High School in 1962, Carolyn's journey through life was marked by an inspiring career as a foster parent, where she touched the lives of countless children. Her dedication to nurturing and supporting young lives not only created a safe haven for many but also formed lasting bonds that have left a mark on the hearts of those she cared for.
Carolyn had a zest for life that was evident in everything she did. She was a master gardener, and her love of nature also shone through during her fishing trips, where she was always known to catch the biggest fish, much to the delight of those around her. Carolyn often found joy in sewing and quilting, crafting beautiful works of art that echoed her thoughtful nature.
Most importantly, Carolyn cherished every moment spent with her family. She reveled in quality time with her beloved husband, James E. Starks, of Omaha; their sons, Steven Starks of Sioux City and Stuart Starks of Omaha; as well as her foster daughter, Janice (Todd) Waldner of Omaha. A doting grandmother and great-grandmother, she embraced her role with open arms, delighting in the laughter and love of her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents Rex and Ethel, her son, Robert Starks, and her brothers, Herb and Richard Bean.
The world is a little less bright without Carolyn Kay Starks, but her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of her loved ones.
