Carolyn E. Butler, 65, of Dakota Dunes, SD, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025. She was born September 2, 1959, in Fremont, NE, to Harvey L. Johnson and Barbara A. (Wagner) Johnson.

Carolyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her husband, Kevin Butler; her children, Brett Ransford, Randy Ransford and his friend Christina; and her cherished grandchildren Avery and Oliver Ransford, and Cashius, Jazzlie, and King Ransford. She is also survived by her mother, Barbara A. (Wagner) Johnson; sisters, Chris (Dennis) Devney, and Deb (Bob) Maas, and longtime best friend Nadine (Jim) Lallman.

Throughout her life, Carolyn worked at various jobs where she formed many lasting friendships. She was known for her warm heart, her love of painting, reading, and attending the symphony, and most of all for her deep and abiding faith, which guided her life.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harvey L. Johnson, and her grandparents, Martha and Glenn Romig.

Services will be held at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel on Saturday, August 30, 2025. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m., with fellowship and refreshments afterward.

Carolyn’s legacy of faith, love, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
