Obituary

Carole Ann Hall, 79, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2026, surrounded by family in her home in Sioux City, Iowa.

Carole was born on February 25, 1947, in Sioux City to Robert and Mary Winkler. The oldest of four children, she grew up alongside her siblings, Mike, Jean, and Barb. Raised in a Catholic family, Carole carried an appreciation for faith throughout her life.

After graduating from high school in 1965, Carole married Ronald Heinse. They made their home in Des Moines, IA, and welcomed three children, Kris, Amy, and Matthew. During this time, Carole attended evening classes at Drake College.

On December 23, 1977, Carole married Roger Hall. Together, they built a life centered on their growing family, welcoming Bo, McKenzie, Megan, and JoBeth, sharing a special birthday bond with her youngest. With seven children, their home was full of activity and laughter. Soon after getting married, Carole started to care for children in her home and continued to do so for 20 years. This allowed her to be present for her own family while becoming a familiar part of other families' lives. She enjoyed seeing those children grow up, and years later, meeting children of the parents she once babysat. Carole went on to work at Younkers for 10 years until her retirement.

She looked forward to every Spring when she could plant her flowers. Carole will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her quick wit, and the love she shared throughout her life. She was extremely funny, keeping those around her on their toes with her kooky sense of humor. She faced life's challenges trusting that things would work out with Roger and her family beside her. "That's life, and you know how to live it!" she liked to say. Her home was the heart of every get-together, from Sunday dinners to finding any reason to throw a party. She was beautiful, full of life, and made Christmas feel like magic for her whole family.

Carrying her love and memory forward are her husband of 48 years, Roger Hall, and her beloved children; Kris Mrla (Junior) of Sioux City, Iowa; Amy Rachuy (Shane) of Papillion, Nebraska; Matthew Heinse (Leigh Ann) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Bo Hall of Sioux City, Iowa; McKenzie Almeida (Jacob) of Williamsburg, Virginia; Megan Andersen (Richard) of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota; and JoBeth Gomez (Saul) of Sioux City, Iowa. She is also lovingly remembered by her 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Robert Winkler, her first husband, Ronald Heinse, her younger sister, Barb Risdal, and her great grandson, Aiden Eilers.

Her legacy lives on in the family she raised, the children she cared for, and the stories that will continue to bring laughter and comfort to those who loved her. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife and mother.

Visitation with the family will be held Tuesday, November 10th, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. with a Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave. Sioux City, Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 11th, at 10:30 A.M. at Immaculate Conception church, 1212 Morningside Ave, Sioux City, Iowa. A luncheon will follow the service. Cremation and private family burial will follow at a later date.
