Byron Arturo Cardona

Byron Arturo Cardona, 50, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2023, in Sioux Falls.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.  Visitation with the family will be one hour prior at the funeral home.

Byron was born July 30, 1973, in Sioux City, the son of Juan Gabriel and Luann (Burright) Cardona.  While in grade school he was chosen as a “gifted student” and attended a special class at Morningside College.  He graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1991.  He attended WITCC and was on the Dean’s List.  Byron received his Mechanical Maintenance Technician Certificate in 2005, his Industrial Plant Technician Diploma in 2013, his Associate of Applied Science Mechanical Engineering Technology Degree in 2014, and his Entrepreneurship Concepts Certificate in 2017. 

Byron loved to learn and was a student of life.  He had so many ideas, entrepreneurial aspirations, and was artistic and loved to make things.  He married Lori Cryer in 1995, and the couple was blessed with two daughters.  He loved being a dad and loved his daughters dearly.  He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing, and watching movies, especially the Marvel Series.  Byron had a beautiful mind and will be missed by his family.

Survivors include his parents Luann Lamoreux and Juan Gabriel (Carol) Cardona and; his grandmother Beverly Burright; his daughters:  Annastasha Cardona and fiancé Malik Dunn of Sioux Falls, SD, Meggan Cardona and fiancé Nathan Turner of Wilmington, NC; brothers:  Jeremy (Hanna) Burright, Ian Cardona (Sara Heiner), Alexander (Brooke) Cardona, and Adam Schmitt; sisters:  Clarissa (Damian) Dicus, Lisa Coyle (Phil LaSeur), Angela Cardona (Matthew Newbill), and Natasha (Judd) Rose; and many nieces and nephews. 

Byron was preceded in death by his grandfather Eugene Burright, grandparents Juan Manuel and Josephina Cardona, uncle Arturo Cardona, aunt Patricia Cardona, and cousin Jason Burright.
