Bryan David Krastel, 38, of Sioux City, Iowa, left this world on Tuesday, July 30, 2024. Services will be held Monday, August 5, 2024, at Meyer Brothers Funeral Homes located at 3220 Stone Park Blvd, Sioux City, Iowa. Viewing will be held in the presence of family and loved ones from 5:00 pm– 7:00 pm, with services to follow starting at 7:00 pm.
Born on November 14, 1985, in Palm Springs, California, the son of David Krastel and Pamela Birdsall. Bryan was a lifelong Californian until 2016 when he moved to Sioux City, Iowa, yet he always remained a true Californian in heart and spirit. Shortly after arriving in Sioux City, he met the love of his life, Mattie Rooney. From the beginning, their connection was undeniable, and they were joined in marriage on July 4, 2022, in Sioux City, Iowa.
Bryan was a crafty and punny person with a lightning-quick wit, endearing charisma, and a brilliant love for his wife and son. He was always quick to lighten the mood with a well-timed pun, or 12. He was immensely intelligent about many facets of life and could carry on an educated conversation with anyone about anything. After his time in the military, he pursued his lifelong career as a carpenter and was passionate about woodworking.
As a die-hard Dodgers fan, Bryan could often be found watching baseball games with his son, Rhett. Their passion for baseball inspired their plan to visit every MLB stadium, they successfully visited five. Bryan was a thrill seeker with a flair for the extravagant including last-minute vacations to the Kentucky Derby, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Denver, Chicago, and Las Vegas, among others. Anyone who traveled with him could honestly say, he was known to wing it. He also enjoyed watching movies, listening to music, eating at El Ranchito, and spending time with his family including his beloved dogs, Georgia and Tink.
Bryan will be forever deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife, Mattie Rooney, his son, Rhett Rooney, his parents David Krastel and Heidi Krastel, and his siblings Chad Krastel, Breahna Bell, and Avalon Krastel. Bryan was preceded in death by his mother, Pamela Birdsall, and his brother, Alexander Hamilton.
