Brian Joseph Massey, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home on April 29, 2026, after battling diastolic heart failure at the age of 54. Born on July 18, 1971, Brian lived a life defined by dedication to his work, deep family ties, and an appreciation for both technology and the natural world. Visitation will be held May 3, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel in Sioux City, with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, May 4, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Parish, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father Randy Schon as Celebrant. A luncheon will follow the Mass, with a private family graveside burial to take place afterward at Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors by the American Legion Post 307.
Brian graduated from Sioux City North High School and earned an Associate’s Degree from a local community college. He served honorably in the United States Navy from 1988 to 1990 aboard the USS Midway.
A lifelong interest in technology led Brian to become a respected figure in the Siouxland community. As the owner and operator of Advanced Computer for more than 25 years, he built a trusted business known for its expertise and integrity. He was a pioneer in the area, introducing Apple products to Sioux City through his store and helping shape the local computer landscape.
Brian will be remembered for his generosity, loyalty, and quiet strength. He valued time with family and friends and enjoyed the outdoors—camping, fishing, boating, and riding his Harley-Davidson. He also shared a special bond with his two beloved dogs, a Rottweiler named Fatty and a Bully named Bubba. They were his constant companions, rarely leaving his side, and anyone who knew Brian knew how much they meant to him.
He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Linda Metz (Henry) of Sioux City; his brothers Jamie (Abby), Jeff (Michaela) of Omaha, and Chris (Shelby) of Sioux City; his nieces Penelope and Kyleigh; nephews Micah, Perry, Leo, Dylan, Liam, and Ethan; and great-nieces Mylah and Reign. He is also survived by his uncle Mick (Sandra) Murphy of Sioux City, aunt Terri Stoos of Hinton, Iowa, aunt Mary Graves of Vermillion, South Dakota, and uncle Rick Laudanskas.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Cleo Murphy and Alex and Mary Laudanskas; his father, Louis Laudanskas; and his uncle, Jim Goza.
Brian leaves behind a legacy of dedication, integrity, and enduring connection to those who knew him.
