Brian Lee Hirsch

Brian Lee Hirsch, 59, of Dakota City passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at a local hospital following a lengthy illness.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 31, 2022 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Andrew Sohm officiating.  Visitation with the family will be Sunday, October 30, 2022 from 4:00-6:00 P.M. with a Vigil Service at 6:00 P.M. at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.  Burial will be at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in South Sioux City.  Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Brian was born August 6, 1963 in Sioux City, the son of Robert and Mary (Frank) Hirsch.  He graduated from Homer High School in 1982.  Brian married his high school sweetheart, Kimberly Smith, on August 10, 1985 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in South Sioux City.  To this union, 2 children were born.

Brian’s passion and talent for cooking led him to own and operate his restaurants:  Willy’s Saloon and Willy’s Grill at the Attic Lounge as well as working in the kitchen at Hy-Vee.  Brian then worked as a manager for Woolworth RV before opening Hirsch’s RV Services Parts & Sales in Dakota City. Brian’s legacy was taking care of his family. He loved spending time with them whether it be fishing, camping, hunting or our yearly vacation to Branson.  This is something we all looked forward to dearly. There were many memories made and more to come. Making memories with his children and grandson Luka was very important to him. Brian had a huge and giving heart. His family was most important to him. Brian was an avid Husker fan at the urge of his wife, was a founding member of the 1^st Chapter of the Moose Lodge in South Sioux City, and a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Jackson.

Survivors include his wife Kim of Dakota City; daughter Laiken Hirsch and partner Jacob Petersen of Sioux City; son Austyn Hirsch and partner Amber Oertel of South Sioux City; grandson Luka; siblings:  Terry (Lynde) Hirsch of Norfolk, NE, Steve (Donna) Hirsch of Dakota City, NE, Rick (MaryAnn) Hirsch of, Jackson, NE, Kathy Zimmerman of Lincoln, NE, Susie (Rollie) Criss of Seward, NE, Donnie (Kathy) Hirsch of Fargo, ND, Ron (Donna) Hirsch of Jackson, NE, Toni Ziehmer of Norfolk, NE, Tina (Mike) Grudzinski of Norfolk, NE, and sister-in-law Annette Hirsch of Dakota Dunes, SD.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents Bob and Mary Hirsch and his brother Bobby Hirsch.
