Brian Hill, a beloved member of the Sioux City community, passed away on September 3, 2025, after suffering a stroke. His family was able to reach the hospital in time, and he was surrounded by his loved ones before he departed this world.
Following his passing, Brian’s family was honored to fulfill his wishes as a donor, finding comfort in knowing that his generosity will help hundreds of others in need. In keeping with his wishes, they will not hold a funeral. Instead, they invite friends, family, and loved ones to join them on Sunday, September 14th at Bodega from 10-12 to share and hear stories about Brian while enjoying some refreshments.
Born on March 13, 1963, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to Vernice Stubsten and Charles Hill, Brian was a cherished son, brother, father, and friend. He graduated from Le Mars High School. Following his high school education, he pursued a degree in Art and Design in Minneapolis, a passion that would shape his career and life.
In 1999, Brian married Joey LaBahn of Hinton, and together they welcomed three beautiful children: Jordan, Austin, and Shelby. Although they parted ways a decade later, Brian found love again with Stephanie Luegers, who remained his significant other until his passing.
Brian was known for his warm presence in the community, particularly during his younger years as a bartender, where he loved sharing stories from his time behind the bar and the diverse array of people he met. His professional journey led him to Rock Solid where he dedicated many years as the Senior Art Director. Brian thrived in this role, passionately exploring his creative side and inspiring clients to appreciate the power of branding. He believed that every detail in a logo tells a story and can captivate consumers.
In addition to his full-time work, Brian was a generous soul who frequently took on freelance design projects for friends and family. Whether it was helping someone start a small business or creating custom T-shirts for special events, he was always ready to lend a hand.
Brian also enjoyed working at Walmart and Fareway, where he relished the opportunity to engage with customers and build relationships within the community. His love for youth sports was evident through his active involvement as a coach, particularly in wrestling with the Northern Storm and Mat Hawks, as well as coaching softball and volleyball. Many young athletes fondly remember him for his encouragement and support during their formative years.
Brian's kindness and genuine interest in others left a lasting impact on those who knew him. He was notorious for his heartfelt Midwestern goodbyes and enjoyed long conversations that made everyone feel valued. In his free time, Brian found joy in riding his Harley and fishing with friends and loved ones, creating cherished memories that will be treasured by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Jordan, Austin, and Shelby; his partner, Stephanie Luegers; and extended family and friends who will miss his infectious laughter and unwavering support. Brian Hill will be remembered for his creativity, compassion, and the warmth he brought into the lives of everyone he met.
