Brenda L. Mauch

Brenda L. Mauch, 61, of Sioux City, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2022.  Visitation will be Thursday, August 18, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.  

Brenda was born the daughter of Larry and Elsie (Cleveringa) Bloemendaal on September 12, 1960 in Orange City, Iowa.  She graduated from Floyd Valley High School and then attended Sioux Falls College. She later graduated from St. Luke’s School of Nursing.  Choosing to further her nursing education, she received her BSN from Morningside College and then obtained her MSN from Briar Cliff University. 

Brenda married the love of her life, Floyd Mauch, on September 7, 2002.  Throughout their 20 years together they enjoyed taking vacations, camping and moved around the state for different job opportunities.

Brenda has worked in the nursing field for over 40 years, in various locations, including Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars; Hospice of Siouxland; and the majority of her career at St. Luke's.  Her most current position was as a nurse practitioner in Occupational Medicine for Unity Point.

She enjoyed watching God’s beauty in creation of all things in nature, she was fond of eagles and butterflies especially.  She liked to travel and experience the local attractions and entertainment of wherever she visited.

Above all else, Brenda loved her family and husband.   Her children were her pride and joy and she cherished every opportunity she was able to spend time with them and her grandchildren. 

Brenda is survived by her husband, Floyd Mauch of Sioux City; children, Alicia (Aloe) Hunafa of Iowa City and Corey (Brittany) Blackmore of Sioux City; step-children, Nicholas (Maggie) Mauch of Sioux City and Melissa (Scott) Ausborn of Ida Grove; siblings, Sandra (Arlan) Britt, Wanda (Steve) Gerzel, Paula Bloemendaal, Donna (Keith) Westhoff, and Tamara Bloemendaal; and seven grandchildren, Jamzin, Owen, Sawyer, Cora, Jameson, Tyler, and Justin.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Lisa.
