Brandon James Martin, 17, of Sioux City passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at his residence after a lifelong battle with Muscular Dystrophy. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Brandon was born on December 1, 2006 in Sioux City to James and Tracy (Kunkel) Martin. He attended Spaulding and Irving elementary schools, going on to East Middle School and East High School. In his free time, Brandon enjoyed gaming at home and had quite a knack for several games.
One of his favorite memories was a vacation to Disneyworld with his mom and dad, a trip made possible by the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Brandon was a happy person with a good sense of humor and a lot of empathy. Once, while talking about reincarnation, he said he would be coming back at President and make America even more beautiful.
He loved Halloween and Christmas, dancing, and reading—he was reading before Kindergarten! In grade school, he would volunteer to read to the more handicapped children. When other children would get in trouble, Brandon would be at their side defending them (and, thus, getting himself into trouble).
Brandon’s family shares their feelings on his passing: “God gave us an angel for 17 years. He changed all our lives and will forever be in our hearts. His memory will keep us going. All who knew him loved him.” He was truly a beautiful child, and he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his parents, James and Tracy Martin; grandma, Carol Kunkel; grandpa, Delbert Martin; uncles, Joe Kunkel and Jason Martin (Holly); and several extended relatives.
He was preceded in death by his grandpa, John Kunkel; his grandma, Chris Martin; and great-grandparents: Bob and Lila Landers, and Richard and Jeanette Martin.
