Obituary

Bonnie Jean Oldaker passed away on October 12, 2026, in Sioux City, IA, after a lengthy illness.

Services will be held on Monday, October 19, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church, with the Reverend James Travis officiating. A visitation will be held at the church one hour before the service, and the private burial will be at Sixteen Cemetery in Thornburg, IA, at a later date. Meyer Brothers Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.

Bonnie was born on September 10, 1936, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Kenneth and Irene (Casper) Beck. Bonnie was the oldest of seven children born to that union. She was baptized and confirmed in the Missouri Synod Lutheran faith and was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. Bonnie graduated from Hinton High School with the class of 1954 and the Iowa School of Beauty, class of 1957. Bonnie married William “Bill” Oldaker in 1968, and they lived in Des Moines until his death in 1986. Bonnie worked as a beauty operator at Younkers in Des Moines for many years, and after her move back to Sioux City, she worked as a housekeeper at Touchstone and Holy Spirit nursing homes.

Bonnie and Bill had no children of their own, but they showered love and attention on their nieces and their families. Bonnie was a woman of her word; she always told her family she would live to be 90, and she did, passing 33 days after her 90th birthday.

Bonnie is survived by her sister, Kay Fortner; nieces, Elizabeth (Mitchell) Boone, Amanda Polly (Sean Chesher), and nephew, Brent (Beck) Ferguson; great-nieces and nephews, Andrew Polly, Joseph Hanson, Spencer Boone, Sidney Hanson, and Emmersen Hanson; and brother-in-law, Don Burnett.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William; her parents; brother-in-law, Kent Beck; sisters, Marla Polly, Yvonne Beck, Gayle Burnett, and Norene Goettsch; brothers—in—law, Edward Fortner and Edward Goettsch; niece, Leslie Polly; nephew, Brian (Beck) Ferguson; and nephew-in-law Joshua Skelton.
