Bill L. Anderson

Bill L. Anderson, 89, of Omaha, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022 in Omaha, Nebraska. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 2, 2022 at Mohr & Becker Hunt Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Pastor Tim Morris officiating. Burial will be at Eastview Cemetery in Allen, Nebraska.

 

Bill was born on March 27, 1933 in South Sioux City, Nebraska. He grew up in the Martinsburg/Ponca area, and graduated from Ponca High School in 1951. He went on to graduate from Wayne State Teacher’s College in 1957. He then obtained his Master’s from Colorado State University in 1961.

 

In 1953 he joined the United States Army, and served until 1955.

 

On December 19, 1958 he married Donna K. Stinger in South Sioux City. She preceded him in death in July of 2021.

 

Bill spent years in the Greeley, Colorado, area while completing his Master’s Degree, but he was a Siouxland man at heart. Growing up in the Ponca area, he returned to Siouxland after finishing school, living in South Sioux City and Sioux City for many years until he settled in Omaha in 2006 and remained until he passed.

 

Bill worked for the Sioux City School System for 40 years as a teacher and counselor. He spent summers in the Job Corp from 1970-1975, as well as years with Garst Seed Corn from 1978-1995.

 

He was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church Men’s League; was an Elder and Treasurer for Hope Lutheran; was active in bowling on a men’s league and double’s league; was an avid golfer and a loyal Cornhuskers fan.

 

Left to cherish his memory include his children: Lori Anderson of Omaha, NE; Darin Anderson (Renee) of Omaha, NE; and Andrew Anderson (Jen Mosley) of Colorado Springs, CO; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Jeannie Anderson of South Sioux City.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna K. (Stinger) Anderson; son, Blaine Anderson; parents, John and Lucille Anderson; brothers, Bob Anderson and John Paul Anderson; and sisters, Carol (Anderson) Welcher and Joyce (Anderson) Bielenberg.

 

Memorial donations may be directed to Hope Lutheran Church.
