Betty Lefkowitz Shapiro

Betty Shapiro, long-time resident of Sioux City, died peacefully on Monday, July 10, 2023.

Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 12, at 11:00am at the Independent Farane Cemetary, 2701 South Lakeport. Services will be conducted by Rabbi Greene. Arrangements are with Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Betty was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on May 23, 1926, graduated from Omaha Central High School. She married Ben Shapiro of Sioux City on November 30, 1947. Betty has resided in Sioux City since her marriage. She was a member of Shaare Zion Synagogue, Congregation Beth Shalom and many other local and national service organizations since moving to Sioux City.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Frieda Lefkowitz, her brother and sister, and one son. She is survived by three children, eight grandchildren and their spouses, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
