4:00 - 6:00 pm (Central time)
Bettie June (Love) Cooper, 91, of Jackson, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026, with her daughter Donna by her side. Bettie lived a long and full life rooted in love, family, hard work, and simple joys. A celebration meal will be held in Bettie’s honor - please come, share a meal, and remember her life, just as she so often brought people together around her own table - from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2026 at the Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home dining area in South Sioux City, Nebraska.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice in Bettie’s name.
Bettie attended truck driving school and went on to drive wreckers alongside her husband, Kenneth, traveling across the country to pick up wrecked semis. Together, they shared many years on the road, building a life grounded in partnership and dedication.
Her love language was feeding others. Bettie was well known for hosting large fish fries, where everyone was welcomed with a full table and a warm heart. She was an incredible cook and an even better baker, especially famous for her pies—always keeping a variety on hand to serve guests or to share with others.
Family was at the center of Bettie’s life. Summers were spent travelling in the countryside, creating memories that will last a lifetime. In the winters, Bettie and Kenneth would head south, camping with friends and enjoying the season together. She also loved playing cards with friends and family, cherishing those moments of connection and laughter.
Bettie found her greatest joy in time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her later years, she found companionship and comfort in her beloved dog, Shasta—who was undoubtedly the best-fed dog in town.
A truly resourceful woman, Bettie knew how to thrive off the land. She maintained a large garden, loved planting flowers, and was skilled at sewing. She carried a quiet strength that defined her as, in every sense, the original farm woman.
She married Kenneth Cooper on November 4, 1951, in Sedan, Kansas, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love and shared purpose.
Bettie will be deeply missed by her daughter, Donna (Dave) Kuhl of South Sioux City, Nebraska; her grandchildren, Kiley Kuhl (Carolina) of Cherokee, Iowa, and Nikki (Jeff) Henshaw of Olathe, Kansas; and her great-grandchildren, Cooper, Averee, and Ryder. She is also lovingly remembered by extended family, friends, and her loyal companion, Shasta.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; her parents; her daughter, Kim; four sisters; three brothers; and her great-granddaughter, Faith Love Henshaw.
