Barry Eugene Couch, 64, of South Sioux City, departed this world on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at a local care center, surrounded by love and fond memories.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation with the family will begin at 11:00 A.M. and continue until the service. Visitation will also resume following the service at end at 4:00 P.M.

Barry was born on January 20, 1961, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Paul and Joyce (Adams) Couch. Barry was a man of remarkable spirit, known for his friendly demeanor, infectious smile, and caring heart, traits that endeared him to everyone who crossed his path.

Growing up in Sioux City, Barry graduated from North High School. He embarked on a commendable career, working for Tyson Meats for over 40 years, demonstrating unwavering dedication and commitment. His work ethic and kindness left an indelible mark on his colleagues, who remembered him not just as a coworker but as a friend.

Barry served his country proudly as a Veteran of the United States Army. His service instilled in him a sense of duty that he carried into every aspect of his life.

In 2008, Barry met the love of his life, Angelina H. Couch. Their journey together culminated in marriage on May 10, 2019, in South Sioux City, a day filled with joy and celebration, marking the beginning of a beautiful partnership that brought him immense happiness.

In addition to his role as a devoted husband, father, and friend, Barry had a variety of interests that brought him fulfillment. He was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Minnesota Twins, often found cheering for his teams on game days. He relished in the simplicity of life, especially the joy of fishing, had a profound love for animals, was an avid reader of fantasy books, and liked playing poker with friends. Above all, it was the moments spent with his family that he treasured the most, creating lasting memories that will forever live in their hearts.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Angelina, along with his mother, Joyce Barber of Texas, and his children: Lilia Valdivia, Jose Valdivia, Mayra Valdivia, Marivel Valdivia, and Samuel (Lilia) Valdivia all of South Sioux City. Barry delighted in being a grandfather and great-grandfather, and the bond he shared with his many grandchildren brought him unparalleled joy. Barry is also survived by his brothers Terry and Kelly Couch.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Couch, and his daughter, Goya Valdivia.
