Barbara Ilse (Zoeppel) Highman, 78, of Sioux City died on Thursday, October 1, 2020, surrounded by her loving children. There will be no service at this time. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is handling arrangements. Online condolences may be directed www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Barbara was born in Berlin, Germany, on January 16, 1942, to Werner and Ilse (Lorenzen) Zoeppel. She Graduated from University after two years of schooling. She met her husband, Jeffrey Highman while he was stationed in Germany. The two moved back to the United States in 1964. She and Jeff were married on October 17, 1965, in Omaha, Nebraska. She became a naturalized citizen of America in 1979.
Barbara worked at Blue Cross, as well as Mercy Medical Center for 34 years.
She was an active member of the Siouxland YMCA and 4 Seasons Health Club, where she swam daily at each facility. She also enjoyed her time at the Senior Center and participated in dancing activities as well as performances around the community.
Those left to honor her memory are her twin girls: Stephanie (Steve) Maurer of Sioux City; and Natalie (Stacy) Highman-Butts of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren: Danielle and Cory Maurer, of Colorado; sister-in-law, Alexandra Sprague of Sioux City; and a brother, Kali Zoeppel, back in Germany.
She was preceded in death by her parents her husband, Jeffrey Highman; and three siblings.
