Arlene Eldora Messerschmidt, age 83, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at her home in Hubbard, Nebraska, surrounded by loved ones.Funeral service will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, May 21, 2018 at Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE. Visitation with the family present will begin at 5:30 P.M. Monday at the funeral Home. Inurnment will be held at a later date.Arlene was born in Pender, NE on December 2, 1934 to her parents, Johann and Senora (Augusta) Paulsen. She graduated from Pender High School in 1952 and acquired a teaching degree from Wayne State College the summer of 1952.Arlene and Raymond Messerschmidt were united in marriage on May 24, 1957 at the Lutheran Church in Emerson, NE. To this union four children were born, Lori, Ron, Don and Kay. In 1957 Arlene and Raymond founded a farm and worked together side by side for 60 years. Arlene also worked as a school teacher for several years. Arlene found great joy being involved at church and spending time with her family. A woman of great faith, grace and integrity; Arlene carried the light of Christ with her wherever she went. Her life and love touched the hearts of many. Beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother and aunt, Arlene is survived by her husband, Raymond Messerschmidt; her children, Lori (Aubrey) Wilson, Ron (Deb) Messerschmidt, Don Messerschmidt and Kay (Rod) Hoesing; her grandchildren, Whitney Wilson (fiancé Ryan Kong), Haley Messerschmidt, Blake (Brianna) Messerschmidt, Ciana Messerschmidt, Alicia Messerschmidt, Kyle (Rylee) Metzger and Lauren Metzger; her sister, Lois Ann (Bill) Farrell; brother-in-law, Ervin Messerschmidt; and many nieces and nephews.Arlene was preceded in death by her father, Johann Henry Paulsen; her mother Senora Augusta Paulsen; and nine siblings.
