Anita Lynn Kouris, 73, passed away on July 16, 2026. She was born on January 23, 1953, in Postville, Iowa, and spent most of her adult life in Sioux City, Iowa, where she built a life centered on family, friendship, and the simple joys that brought her happiness.

Anita devoted herself to raising her family as a stay-at-home mother before discovering a passion for antique dealing, a hobby that became much more than a pastime. She had a remarkable eye for hidden treasures and loved nothing more than finding a great bargain. Whether browsing antique shops, estate sales, or flea markets, she found excitement in the hunt and joy in sharing her discoveries.

She was an incredible cook whose meals brought family together around the table. She found peace in gardening, cherished the company of her lifelong friend Jane, and was always eager to dive into a new interest. From knitting to donkeys, crosses, buttons, and cats, Anita’s curiosity never faded. She had a gift for finding wonder in unexpected places.

Anita had a special love for animals, especially dogs. Her beloved dog Skooter held a special place in her heart, and the love and companionship they shared remained a cherished memory for many years after he passed.

Family was always at the heart of Anita’s life. She treasured the many holidays spent surrounded by Dean’s family, creating memories that became cherished traditions. One of her favorite annual events was attending Saturday in the Park with her family, where good music, good company, and plenty of laughter made for some of her happiest days. She also loved traveling to Florida and Georgia to spend time with her family, always looking forward to making new memories together.

Above all, Anita loved people. She could spend hours on the phone sharing stories, catching up, laughing until she cried, and making those she loved feel connected. Her warmth, sense of humor, and generous spirit made every conversation memorable.

Though her family and friends will miss her deeply, they take comfort in the countless stories, recipes, laughs, and memories she leaves behind. Anita’s love will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Anita was preceded in death by the love of her life, Dean Kouris; her parents, Marvin and Irene Suckow; and her parents-in-law, Harry and Connie Kouris.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Whitney Kamradt, and son-in-law, Jeff; her grandchildren, Sydney and her husband, JJ, Kal, and Thea. She is also survived by her sister, Valerie, and brother-in-law, Richard, along with their family, as well as many extended family members and dear friends whose lives she touched over the years.

In accordance with Anita’s wishes, she will be cremated, and no formal services will be held.
