Alan Dale Reed, 72, of Sioux City passed away Monday, November 21, 2022 at a local hospital following a lengthy illness.

A Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, November 28, 2022 at St. Michael Catholic Church with Father Peter Nguyen officiating.  Visitation with the family will be Sunday, November 27, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. with a Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.  Online condolences may be given at

Alan was born October 13, 1950 in Sioux City, the son of Albert and Nettie (Dawdy) Reed.  He graduated from Heelan High School and enlisted in the United States Army.  Alan served in the Vietnam war and was medically discharged.  He married Tammy Myers on May 5, 1986 in Sioux City.  Alan enjoyed playing pool and was a member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, and St. Michael Catholic Church. 

Survivors include his wife Tammy of Sioux City; step-daughter Jenny Jones of Sioux City and her son Trent Zachary Jones; step-son DJ Ransom and his son Aiden Lewis Ransom; siblings:  Joyce Langle of Sioux City, Opal Barger of Sioux City, Nancy Reed of Sioux City, and Bob Reed Sioux City; brother-in-law Bill and wife Gina Myers of Dakota Dunes, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings:  Larry Reed, Ardel Reed, Shirley Bates, Jim Reed, Sharon Horgan, and Dwight Reed.
