Alan David Evans, 74, of Sioux City passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at his residence. A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Alan was born on December 19, 1947 in Sioux City, to Albert and Marguerite (McCardle) Evans. He graduated from Central High School in 1965, and went on to attend classes at WITCC. In 1965, he married Carol Coney. The two later divorced.

 

On April 10, 1976, Alan married Karen Simonson, and the two made their home in Sioux City. Alan was an auto technician, and worked for Hoak Oldsmobile for many years, Quality Auto in South Sioux City, and Condon Motors.

 

Alan was always busy, and was a man of many interests and hobbies. He flew model airplanes and was a longtime member of Siouxland Aeronautics; an avid motorcycle enthusiast; rode snowmobiles; and raced motocross. A true adrenaline junkie, for Alan if it went fast, it was all good!

 

Music was an important piece of Alan’s life; he enjoyed many types of music over the years, and dabbled in playing guitar. He could also be found working on one of the five telescopes he owned, and they were often placed around his property at home while he worked. He also loved watching the New England Patriots.

 

Alan was an animal lover. He had many cats throughout his life, and they were his beloved companions.

 

Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Karen; his children: Ryan Evans (Laura), April Evans (Peter Osmanson), Emily Devino (Tom), Anita Newhouse (Brian), Beth Negri (Steve), Neil Wickham (Lori), Greg Evans, and Amy Evans; 9 grandchildren; his siblings: Diane Gibson (Malcolm), Linda Davis and her late husband Duane, Richard Evans (Jan), and Kathy Strom (Kevin); several nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat and close companion, Maggie.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his stepmother, Roz Evans, for whom he cared for many years until her passing.
