Adam Joseph Camenzend, 40, of Sioux Falls, SD formerly of Sioux City, IA, passed away unexpectedly from injuries sustained during a work accident on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, in Sioux Falls, SD.
Born on August 24, 1985, in Sioux City, IA, Adam was the son of Ed and Chriss (Bjordal) Camenzend. He graduated from North High School in Sioux City, IA and furthered his education at WyoTech in Laramie, WY where he earned a degree in Diesel Technology.
Throughout his career Adam showcased his mechanical aptitude and dedication. He worked at North American Truck &Trailer in Sioux City and more recently in Sioux Falls, embracing his profession with pride and commitment. Adam was fun-loving, very caring and always up for a new adventure.
Outside of work Adam was a passionate individual who enjoyed golfing and hiking. His enthusiasm extended to sports as he was an avid supporter of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Adam found joy not only in his hobbies, but also in the relationships he fostered with loved ones, friends and special coworkers.
Adam looked forward to a bright future with his fiancée, Bethany, as they prepared to welcome their baby girl in just a few months. The anticipation of being a father added to the warmth and excitement in his life.
Adam is survived by his fiancée, Bethany Schmidt, and their baby girl on the way; parents, Ed and Chriss Camenzend of Sioux City, IA; siblings, Kirk Camenzend of Omaha, NE, Sarah (Neil) Probst of Green River, WY, Andrea (Brad) Lones of Urbandale, IA, and Stephanie (Todd) Burrus of Overland Park, KS; and nieces and nephews, Nathan, Joshua and Nicole Hasstedt, Andrew and Morgan Burrus, and Ella Loe. Additionally, he is survived by Bethany’s parents, Dan and Deb Schmidt of Norfolk, NE, Bethany’s brothers, Tyler Schmidt and Levi (Amy) Schmidt of Norfolk, NE; Bethany’s nieces and nephews, Alli, Hailey, Haiden, and Maci Schmidt, Kayden and Cammie Schmidt; as well as many friends and coworkers.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM at the Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel located at 6200 Morningside Ave, Sioux City, IA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Bethany for their unborn daughter.
