Abbey Dawn White

October 31, 1972 — December 31, 2025

Sioux City, Iowa

Abbey Dawn White was born on October 31, 1972, in Bogota, Columbia. Adopted at a young age, she became a cherished member of her family and, at just seven years old, proudly became a naturalized U.S. citizen on May 8, 1980—a milestone that brought her great joy and shaped her sense of belonging. Abbey attended schools in Emmetsburg and Jefferson, Iowa, before graduating from West High School in Iowa City, IA, where her intelligence and determination shone brightly.

Driven by a sense of adventure and opportunity, Abbey moved to Seattle, Washington, where she balanced working and studying to become a dental assistant at college. She continued to work in Seattle for several years. Her perseverance during these years was inspiring.

A woman of deep faith, Abbey found comfort and strength in her spiritual foundation. She was known for her love of reading the Bible—Psalms 23 held a special place in her heart—and she listened to Christian music and radio daily. These practices provided her with solace throughout life’s journey.

Abbey’s creativity flourished through her hobbies of knitting and cross stitch that had been introduced to her by her late Grandma Betty. Family members fondly display colorful potholders, a beautiful “Seasons” cross stich and an adorable “It’s a RUFF life” cross stich. She often surprised her friends with gifts of scarves, hats, mittens, potholders, and homemade cards that warmed both body and heart. Abbey loved to laugh and had a passion for travel, including backpacking across Europe.

Her beloved cat, Boots, was a constant companion, bringing her immense joy and comfort. Abbey’s spirituality, creativity, stubborn, and adventurous spirit touched the lives of all who knew her, leaving a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Abbey is survived by her loving sisters, Summer (Mark) Cord of Sioux City, IA, and Danielle (Troy) White of Newton, IA. She also leaves behind cherished nieces and nephews, including Bailey (Jason) Huyser and their children, Clay and Brielle; Beau; Brandon; Allyson (Evan) Friel and their children, Mckenna and Molly; Madeline (Zach) Dunham; and Brady.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Alan White and Melody White and Grandparents Betty & Don Johnston and Forest & Darlene White.
