Delores E. Barger, 75, of Sioux City passed away Monday, May 15, 2006, at a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Westlawn Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Roger Graf officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service followed by an Order of Eastern Star service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Delores was born Aug. 13, 1930, near Westfield, Iowa, the daughter of Main and Zetta (McMahan) Rosenbaum. She grew up in the Riverside area of Sioux City. She married Robert D. Barger on July 3, 1948, in Sioux City.

She was employed at Johnson Biscuit Co., Wincharger Corp., Duling Optical and retired from Sears in 1987.

She was a member of Westlawn Presbyterian Church where she had taught Sunday school. She was a member of the Mariner's Club of the church, the Abu Bekr Wreckettes and the Order of Eastern Star Silver Chapter No. 548.

She was an avid reader and loved to travel with her family. Most of all, her pride and joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 58 years, Bob; a daughter and her husband, Janice and Dennis Schempp of Ponca, Neb.; a son and his wife, Bobby and JoAnn Barger of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Melissa and Craig Ruhrer, Kristin and Rollie Whitsel, Justin and Amanda Barger, Stacey Schempp and Brad Schempp; and seven great-grandchildren, Jessica, Tine, Noah, Nate, Abby, Lacy and Aiden.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Edward Allen; an infant son, Donald; and three sisters, Valerie, Arlene and Sharon.

Pallbearers will be Craig Ruhrer, Rollie Whitsel, Justin Barger, Brad Schempp, Walt Haltli Jr. and Gary Schroeder.

Memorials in her name may be made to Westlawn Presbyterian Church.
