SIOUX CITY -- Howard L. Barrett Sr., 81, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, at a local hospital following a brief illness.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. James Bruch officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 5 to 7 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Howard was born Feb. 23, 1928, in Randolph, Neb., the son of Lawrence and Minnie (Wilson) Barrett.
He married Judy Jensen on June 5, 1969, in Dakota City, Neb.
Howard was the owner and operator of Barrett's Watch Repair for more than 50 years. He loved the many friendships he made while running the store.
Howard enjoyed bingo, playing cards (especially poker), fishing and telling jokes.
Survivors include his wife, Judy; six children, Howard Jr. and his wife Cathy Barrett, Patricia Jenkins, Paul and his wife Joan Barrett, Jill and her husband Dave Georgeson, Becky and her husband Ronnie Larson and Ronald Barrett and his fiancee Jessica, all of Sioux City; a sister, Vera Foley of Sioux City; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jack; three sisters, Venetta, Dorothy and Grace; and a brother, Elmer.
