SIOUX CITY -- Sherry L. Betsworth, 65, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at her sister's residence.
Services will be 9 a.m. today at Calvary Lutheran Church, with the Rev. James Travis officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Sherry was born Oct. 16, 1943, in Baker, Mont., the daughter of Roy and Linda Lucinda (Greenough) Prichard. At the age of four, her family moved to Sioux City from Ekalaka, Mont. She resided in Sioux City until retiring to Spirit Lake in 2003.
She was married to Larry Betsworth on Nov. 8, 1958, in Sioux City. He preceded her in death on April 21, 2008, in Spirit Lake.
She retired from Brothers Box Company after working there for about 10 years. She also worked at Dean Drug, Osco Drug, Woolworths and Sioux City Bakery.
She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, where she was involved with Ruth Circle. After retiring, she enjoyed feeding the wild cats around her home in Spirit Lake and spoiling her four grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Ed Betsworth and his wife, Rhonda and their children, Elena, Apollo, Jannessa and Larrissa, all of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; sisters, Shirlee Bohlke, Terry Hansen and Pat Jorgensen, all of Sioux City; brothers, Ted Prichard and Bill Prichard, both of Sioux City and Kay Prichard of California; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Betsworth; her parents, Roy and Linda Prichard; brothers, Guy Prichard, Donny Prichard and Roy Prichard Jr.; sisters, June Prichard, Jean Most and Betty Blutt; three nephews; and two nieces.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Siouxland.
