Lillian (Speero) Gicondy

June 25, 1919 — May 17, 2009

Lillian Anna Gicondy, 89 of Sioux City, died Sunday, May 17, 2009 at her residence after a short illness.

Private family services will be held and burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is handling arrangements. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com .

Lillian was born June 25, 1919, the daughter of Lambro and Elaine Bozikis Speero. On May 11, 1947 she married Louis Gicondy in Sioux City. The couple owned and operated the coffee shop in the Benson Bldg., as well as the 4th Street Caf. Many Sioux City residents enjoyed the food and welcome atmosphere the couple established at their restaurants. Louis died April 14, 1974 in Sioux City. Lillian enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and especially, watching the Chicago Cubs on television.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.

She is survived by her nieces Elaine Schindler, Magdalene Topitzes, and Sandy Kidd, and her nephews Michael Scarmon, George Scarmon, Gregory Speero, Paul Speero, and Risto Speero. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers, Gregory and Risto Speero, and her sisters, Wanda Bovis and Beulah Scarmon.

Memorials may be made in her name to Hospice of Siouxland, 4300 Hamilton Blvd., Sioux City, IA, 51104.
