Gennieve Marie Goldsmith, 86, of Sioux City, died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2006, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Laurice Streyffeler officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Gennieve was born Jan. 28, 1920, in Sioux City, daughter of George and Mattie Mathwig. She attended East High School.
She married Lloyd T. Goldsmith on Feb. 6, 1940, in Sioux City. Lloyd passed away in 1963 in Sioux City. Gennieve and Lloyd made their home in the Leeds area. She was a homemaker until her husband's death, when she started working in retail at National Foods and the Half Price Store.
She enjoyed knitting and crocheting for friends and family, and she loved to cook and bake.
Gennieve was a lifelong member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the UMC Women's Group. She was also a member of St. Luke's Auxiliary, where she knitted baby caps for the NICU.
Survivors include a daughter, Elaine (Jerry) Roberts of Sioux Falls, S.D.; a son, Ronald (Lupe) Goldsmith of Citrus Heights, Calif; a grandson, Allen Lohrman of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren of Sioux Falls and six grandchildren of California; three great-grandchildren of Sioux Falls, 17 great-grandchildren of California, and three great-great-grandchildren of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Barbara; a son Douglas; a brother; and a sister.
Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
