Sandy J. Hansen

Sandy J. Hansen, 51, of Sioux City after a strong fight lost her battle with cancer Thursday, May 25, 2006, at her residence surrounded by her family.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Daniel Guenther of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Sunday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Sandy was born Nov. 5, 1954, in Laurel, Neb. She graduated from Lawton-Bronson High School. She married Rick R. Hansen on March 27, 1997, in Elk Point, S.D. She had been a bartender at Callahan's for several years.

She loved to cook, take care of others and especially, spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, Rick; four sons, Todd Pokett and his wife, Amanda of Dallas, Texas, Troy Pokett and his wife, Melanie of Sioux City, Chad Hansen and his fiancee, Shantal Coop of Sioux City and Cory Crane of Sioux City; four sisters, Theresa and her husband, Steve Hanson of Bronson, Iowa, Diane and her husband, Craig Kibbe of Omaha, Marcia Foster of Moville, Iowa, and Rhonda and her husband, Tony Tohill of Illinois; three brothers, Tom Pokett of Sioux City, Terry Pokett and his fiancee, Jenni Meyer of Sioux City and Tim Pokett and his wife, Jennifer of Sioux City; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Steingraber.

Honorary pallbearers will be Diane Kibbe, Troy Pokett, Chad Hanson, Cory Crane and Todd Pokett.
