SIOUX CITY -- John Edward Jenkins, 51, of Sioux City died peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at his residence.
Services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel, with the Rev. Roger Madden officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Whiting (Iowa) Cemetery. John was born Sept. 20, 1958, in Sioux City, the son of Gordon Lee and Kathryn Mae (White) Jenkins. He was a lifelong resident of Sioux City. He worked in the hardware department at several area businesses for many years.
On April 22, 1984, he married Ann L. Pick in Elk Point, S.D.
He enjoyed woodworking, painting, gardening, house plants, cooking and music. He was fond of his favorite dog, Abby, and liked to go fishing with her.
Survivors include two daughters, Jonna Hoffman and her husband, Matthew and Kathryn Jenkins, all of Sioux City; two granddaughters, Hailey and Hannah Hoffman of Sioux City; his beloved friend and former wife, Ann Jenkins of Sioux City; two brothers, Dale Beckner and his wife, Karen of Springdale, Ark., and Harvey Beckner of Texas; a sister, Rita Heisler of Estherville, Iowa; a stepmother, Bev Jenkins of Sioux City; a stepsister, Janice Smith and two stepnephews; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; grandparents; and an aunt.
