Eileen Ruth Mace

SIOUX CITY -- With her children by her side, Eileen Ruth Mace, 53, passed away Monday, April 6, 2009, after a lengthy illness.

Services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 10, 2009 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, 3220 Stone Park Blvd., with the Rev. Del Oliver officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, with the family present 5 to 7 p.m. and a prayer service at 6 p.m., at the funeral home.

Eileen was born Sept. 13, 1955, in Sioux City, to the late George and Adriana (DeJong) Seible. She married Alan Mace on April 5, 1985, in Holden, Mo. For 27 years, she worked at Interbake Foods in North Sioux City. She was a member of the Bakers Union Local 433.

She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, crocheting, gardening and working on home projects. She looked forward to visits from her grandchildren and always had a thoughtful something waiting for them. She will also be remembered for her steadfast attitude and spunk.

Survivors include three sons and a daughter, Jason Mace and his wife, Kristi of Independence, Mo., Doug Mace and his wife, Lisa of Sheldon, Iowa, Wesley Mace and Rebecca of Independence and Jennifer Mace and Gordon Beermann of Elk Point, S.D.; a stepson, Alan Mace Jr. and his wife, Julie of Hawarden, Iowa; grandchildren, Allie, Katie, Hannah, Amanda, Emma, Jacob, Andrew and Tristan; her canine companion, Sadie; five siblings, Douglas Seible and his wife, Carlene of Tucson, Ariz., Nelva Goodrich and her husband, Virgil of Tucson, Durward Seible and his wife, Lori of Durham, Conn., Emily Dye of Elgin, Ill., Dennis Seible and his wife, Terri of Geneseo, Ill., and Angie Blatchford and her husband, Dale of Onawa, Iowa; and longtime friend, Sharon Painter, deserve grateful recognition. Over the years, they assisted her in untold ways.

Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Alan Wesley Mace Sr.; a son, Edward Lee Mace Jr.; a grandson, Douglas Brett Mace; and two half brothers, Charles and John Seible.

Eileen's family would like to extend sincere appreciation to many for their dedicated and compassionate care; Dr. Terry Mitchell of Siouxland Family Health Care, Dr. Gerald Hagin of Siouxland Hematology and Oncology, the medical and support staff at the June E. Nylen Cancer Center, the (seventh floor) Oncology Unit at Mercy Medical Center, Indian Hills Hospice Unit and Hospice and Palliative Care of Siouxland. Additionally, they thank the extended family and friends for deeds, great and small, performed during this journey.
