Margaret A Nelson

WESTFIELD, Iowa -- Margaret A. Nelson, 64, of Westfield died Thursday, May 25, 2006, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City, with the Rev. Laurice Streyffeler of Akron United Methodist Church in Akron, Iowa, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Mrs. Nelson was born Jan. 24, 1942, in Sioux City, the daughter of Donald and Violet (Lesline) Clabaugh.

She married Carl Nelson on March 26, 1966, in Akron, Iowa. The couple moved to Fremont, Neb., in the fall of 1966 and lived there until returning to the Westfield area in the summer of 1977. She worked for Gambles in Sioux City and at Emphasis and Design Plastics while living in Fremont. She had spent about 18 months living at Casa de Paz.

She was a member of Akron United Methodist Church and had taught Sunday School. She was a member of Fremont Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 200 and the Fireman's Auxiliary. She was been active in the PTA.

Survivors include her husband, Carl of Westfield; four children, Mardell and her husband, Rod Obermiller of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Rodney Nelson of Akron, Tracy and her husband, John Howard of Alcester, S.D., and Ricci Nelson of Merrill, Iowa; a sister and her husband, Gladys and Merritt "Bud" Carlson of Fort Collins, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Randi Nelson; and a sister, Janet Lynn Clabaugh.
