Hazel Marie Netley, 95, of Sioux City passed away Monday, March 16, 2009, at Westwood Nursing and Rehab Center following a brief illness.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Dan Doran of First Evangelical Free Church officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery, Moville, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2009 with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Hazel was born July 18, 1913, in Bancroft, Neb., to Frank B. and Lula L. (Moore) Potter. She grew up on the family farm between Pender and Walthill, Neb. She attended Potter School.
On June 9, 1950, she was married to Robert Netley in Sioux City. He preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 1996, in Sioux City. She was a homemaker, raising two boys.
She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed spending time at the family's cabin in Minnesota and going fishing. She was a longtime member of First Evangelical Free Church.
She is survived by her two sons, Dick (Kathie) Netley of Omaha and Dwayne (April) Netley of Sioux City; and three grandchildren, Nick, Boyd and Summer Netley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Wilmer; a sister, Nettie Smith; her husband; and two granddaughters.
Pallbearers will be Nick Netley, Boyd Netley, Don Potter, David Bentz, Kevin Netley, Jim Netley and Dave Turman. Honorary pallbearer will be Lyle Smith.
Memorials in her name can be made to First Evangelical Free Church.
