Arlo G. Olson, 70, of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly Saturday, May 27, 2006, at his residence.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Alex T. Washington officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Arlo was born Aug. 8, 1935, in Battle Creek, Iowa, the son of Glenn A. and Mary S. (Steinbach) Olson. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He had been a resident of Sioux City for more than 60 years. He did construction work for a time. Later, he was employed with Armour and Company for several years. More recently, he was a bartender at the Blue Mill Tavern until retiring.

He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Marine Corps League and the Veteran's Association. He was very active with Toys for Tots.

Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Janeway of Indiana; three sons, Arlo Wayne Cornett of Indiana, Todd Cornett of Indiana and Dan Sturtevant of Sioux City; his twin brother, Arnold Olson and his wife, Pat of Sioux City; two sisters, Sonja Sigaty of Sioux City and Glenda and her husband, Leo Bousquet of Dakota City; 21 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Sharon Drummond of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Mark Sigaty, John Farley, Jerrod Olson, Brian Peterson, Dave Rotert, Jeff Olson, Donald Christian and Anthony Sigaty-Jager.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Toys for Tots.

He will be greatly missed by all.
