SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Earlyne Frances (Hickel) Owens, 79, of South Sioux City passed away Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, at Matney Colonial Manor surrounded by her family.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, November 28, 2008 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City, with the Rev. Daniel Wittrock officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, with a vigil service at 7 p.m., at the church. Visitation will resume 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Earlyne was born Jan. 11, 1929, in Randolph, Neb., the daughter of Earl and Frances (Meyer) Hickel. She lived all of her life in South Sioux City.
On Dec. 28, 1948, she married Albert F. Owens and together they raised seven children.
She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, Albert; a son, Mike Owens of South Sioux City; four daughters, Pauline (Gary) Ehlers of Sioux City, Pam (Dan) Unkel of Jackson, Neb., Peggy Teager of South Sioux City and Sue (Kevin) Hansen of Hubbard, Neb.; a sister, Lorraine (Daniel) Pallas of Las Vegas, Nev.; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Lucille Peters; and two beloved sons, Rick and Steve Owens.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
