Shirley N. Reid, 87, of Sioux City passed away Monday, May 8, 2006, in Sioux City.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 12, 2009 at Morningside Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Roger D. Graf officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Shirley was born March 30, 1919, in Sioux City, the daughter of Dayton and Verna (Norman) Wallen. She graduated from East High School and later from Morningside College.She married William L. Reid on June 28, 1941, in Sioux City. The couple moved to Seattle, Wash., for a brief time, prior to moving to Omaha. In 1949, they returned to Sioux City. She assisted her husband with their business, Sioux City Surgical Company. William preceded her in death on May 17, 1991, in Sioux City.

She had been a member of Morningside Presbyterian Church since 1932, where she was a Sunday School teacher, a deacon and a member of Hannah Circle. She also was a member of Morningside Riparian Study Club. She enjoyed family activities and interactions with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as numerous friends.

Survivors include five children, Robert W. Reid and his wife, Marilyn of Lincoln, Neb., Jerold D. Reid and his wife, Geraldine of St. Helens, Ore., Walter D. Reid and his wife, Kathleen of Dakota Dunes, S.D., H. "Bill" Reid and his wife, Lisa of Mill Creek, Wash., and Margaret "Peggy" Reid of Sioux City; a daughter-in-law, Lea Reid of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Donald and Dolly Wallen of Lynnwood, Wash.; two sisters, Bonnie Barnowe and Lois and her husband, Bill Batts, all of Seattle, Wash.; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Reid; and two brothers, James and Jerold Wallen.

Pallbearers will be Robert, Jerold, Walter, Bill, Wade, Brad and Ryan Reid.

Memorials are suggested to Morningside Presbyterian Church.
