Kathleen Weisz

SIOUX CITY -- Kathleen Weisz, 86, of Sioux City died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab Center following a brief illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 15, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Vermillion, S.D. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Kathleen was born March 23, 1922, in Burbank, S.D., the daughter of Edward J. and Marguerite (Malloy) Manning. She was educated at Burbank School, St. Joseph Mercy School of Nursing, St. Louis University and the University of South Dakota. She served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a nurse.

She married Charles Raymond Weisz on June 5, 1952, in St. Louis, Mo. They were blessed with a son, Steven. She spent the major portion of her professional life at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital and St. Joseph Mercy School of Nursing.

She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include her son, Steven Weisz of Sioux City; a sister, Carroll Cain of Long Beach, Calif.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; two brothers, Richard and James; and two sisters, Marilyn Stueck and Aileen Manning.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Malloy, Orville Stueck Jr., Daniel Stueck, Peter Tapken, jay West and Terry Loutsch.
