SIOUX CITY -- Norman P. "Norm" Yanacheak, 63, of Sioux City died from a short illness with cancer Monday, April 18, 2011, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Norm was born Oct. 16, 1947, in Erie, Pa., to Cleo and Genevieve (Scheloske) Yanacheak. He graduated from Woodbury Central High School.
He was married to Sherry Blake on July 15, 1967, at St. Boniface Catholic Church. He served his country with the Army National Guard and was activated to serve during the Vietnam War.
He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. He enjoyed golfing, watching T.V., especially when the Twins were on, and listening to music on YouTube.
Norm is survived by his wife, Sherry Yanacheak; three children, Amy (Robert) Keairns, Paul (Chasity) Yanacheak and Emily Yanacheak, all of Sioux City; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, David (Mary) Yanacheak of Brownington, Vt., Ralph (Carol) Yanacheak of Le Mars, Iowa, Art (Diane) Yanacheak of St. Paul, Minn., and Frank Yanacheak of Anthon, Iowa; a sister, Nedra (Rex) Haley of Des Moines; two mothers-in-law, Pauline Weber of Sioux City and Evelyn Blake of Salt Lake City, Utah; and two brothers-in-law, Robert (Colette) Blake of Las Vegas, Nev., and Randy (Colleen) Blake of Salt Lake City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a great-granddaughter.
