Jorgen C. Petersen

Jorgen C. Petersen, 94, of Sioux City passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Regency Square Nursing Home in South Sioux City, NE. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Morningside Lutheran Church at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Tom LoVan officiating. Burial will take place in the Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be a visitation on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. with family present from 6-8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com Jorgen was born on September 14, 1918 in Sioux City to Jorgen and Mary (Sorensen) Petersen. He graduated from East High School. He was married to Eleanor Reidiger on June 13, 1943 in Sioux City. She preceded him in death on October 12, 2005 in Sioux City. Jorgen worked for 46 years for Sioux Tools retiring in 1983 as a Credit Manager. Jorgen enjoyed fishing, traveling with his wife, wood working and was an avid fan of sports, particularly watching the Sioux City Explorers, Iowa Hawkeyes and the Minnesota Vikings. He is survived by his daughter Nancy (Bill) Gutschow of South Sioux City, NE; son Rick Petersen of Sioux City; a granddaughter Sally (Rob)Morrissey of Omaha, NE; and a sister Mable Mook of Sioux City. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 3 brothers, Harold, Elmer and Herman Petersen, 3 sisters Elsie Sokolowski, Marie Folonis, and Martha Panther.
