Rena Fegenbush

Rena Fegenbush, 97, of Sloan passed away Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at Westwood Nursing and Rehab Center in Sioux City. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church in Sloan. Burial will be in Sloan Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. Rena was born on June 15, 1915, in Moville, Iowa, the daughter of William and Corneila (du Bois) Grootewal. She was raised in the Moville area. She lived in San Francisco for several years before returning to Sloan. She married Leland Fegenbush on Dec. 18, 1954, in Moville. They owned and operated various businesses in Sloan over the years. He passed away in 1986 in Sloan. Rena was a member of First Christian Church and several community and service organizations in Sloan. Survivors include her sister, Pat Buckholz of Nevada; and her local niece and nephew, Connie and Keith Shellhammer of Sioux City. She was preceded in death by her parents; her twin sister, Retta Reinbold; two other sisters, Vivian Ferdig and Wilma Fasolo; and her brother at birth, William Grootewal. Memorials may be directed to First Christian Church in Sloan.
