SIOUX CITY | Warren Dale Forsling, 85 of Sioux City, IA died Thursday, December 20, 2012 at his home. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Augustana Lutheran Church with Rev. Del Olivier officiating. Military honors will conclude the service. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Visitation with the family will be the hour prior to the service at church. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is handling arrangements. Condolences may be made online at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Warren was born September 28, 1927 in Sioux City to Samuel and Helga (Bowman) Forsling. He grew up and graduated from Central High School. He served as a Navy Seabee during World War II in the Asiatic- Pacific Theater. On January 21, 1949 he married Rosemary Porter in Sioux City. He worked for Mid-American Energy Company until his retirement. He worked for the stagehands union and enjoyed the camraderie and meeting the performers. He was baptized and confirmed at Augustana Lutheran Church where he was a lifelong member. He was a longtime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1973, Landmark Lodge #103, the Sioux City Scottish Rite Bodies, Abu Bekr Shrine and the Oriental Band. Warren was a very knowledgeable war historian and an avid reader. Survivors include his wife of nearly 64 years, Rosemary; a son, Craig Forsling; 2 daughters, Melinda Trobaugh and her husband, Steven and Marcy Forsling-Stenwall all of Sioux City; a sister, Bethel Jean (Forsling) Nettleton of Sioux City; 6 grandchildren, Kim Forsling (Joe Japel), Aaron Forsling (Shanan Notz), Wesley Forsling, Kirsten (D.J.) Wynn, Benton (Nicole) Quade and Rosalie Stenwall; 2 step-grandchildren, Derek (Alicia) Trobaugh and Alicia (Matt) Niemann; and 10 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made in his name to Augustana Lutheran Church or the V.F.W. Post #1973.
