Jean I. Schultz, 94, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013 at a local hospital. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, February 1, 2013 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8 P.M. with the family present from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Logan Park Cemetery. Jean was born May 30th, 1918 in Sioux City, the daughter of Grover and Gladys (Tubbs) Harrington. She married John Andrew Schultz on May 7th, 1940 in South Sioux City. To this union five children were born. John preceded her in death on June 28th, 1982. Jean enjoyed bowling, and received a trophy for her high scores. She also loved flowers and gardening, music, playing the piano and the ukulele, and shopping and antiquing. She always loved to spend time with her mother and siblings enjoying the luncheons they would have when they all played Pokeno or Tripoly. In her later years, she enjoyed going to the Argosy Casino with her brother Don and sister Janice. Jean was the center of the family and loved spending time with them. She enjoyed holidays and cooking for the entire family. She was a very strong woman who helped raise her brothers and sisters during the depression and continued to provide for her children. Jean was a member of the Sioux City Museum Historical Society for many years. Survivors include her children: David (Kathy) Schultz, Gerald Schultz and his "better half" Margie Nichols, and Tim Schultz all of Sioux City and Lisa Schultz-Smith of Dakota City, NE; three brothers: Donald Harrington of Sioux City, Richard (Delores) Harrington of Hot Springs, AR, and Thomas (Helen) Harrington of Fergus Falls, MN; a sister Janice Elsner of Sioux City; eleven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, a son John "Jack" Schultz, a brother Gerald Harrington, and two sisters: Rosemary and Patricia.
