Harry A. Wanned, 87 of Sioux City, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at a local hospital. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel with Reverend Kristine Frank officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, September 13th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with family present at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com Harry was born on March 31, 1926 to Rosa and Walter Wanned in Pontiac, Michigan. The family moved to Sioux City, where Harry was raised. He joined the United States Marine Corp and served his country during World War II. Harry married his life-long sweetheart, Dorothy Work, in December of 1947. They had five children, Joyce, Douglas, Edward, RaMona, and Rose. Harry worked for the City of Sioux City Water Departement for over 40 years. He retired in 1988 and spent his time gardening and enjoying his family. Harry was the proud grandfather of three grandchildren, Aja Simpson, Jenni Lee Roose, and Jamison Wanned. He had seven great-grandchildren, JaMya, Coleman, Libertee, Akia, Aja, Phoenix, and Loyal Simpson. Harry was an honest, hard working man. He believed in helping out his neighbor and he loved his family. On September 10, 2013 the Lord called on Harry to leave this earthly world as we know it and join the forces of the Heavens. Harry has joined the Lord's Army and he will be missed by many. "Harry, we love you!" Harry was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy, and son Edward.
