William D. "Bill" McKenna

William D. "Bill" McKenna, 67, of Sioux City, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013 at a local hospital. Abiding by his wishes, his body has been cremated and there will be no local services held at this time. Bill was born on November 17, 1945, in Sioux City, IA to Ambrose and Lucille (Gearen) McKenna. He was raised and educated in Sioux City, IA. Bill married the love of his life Susan Mize on September 12, 1966 in Bessemer, MI. They resided in Sioux City, IA together for 47 years. He worked for many years in the packing house industry. In 1988 he started his career at the Sioux City Transit System, until his retirement in 2007. His passions were his family, friends, hunting, golf, golf, and more golf....He was a very generous, caring and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Bill was very creative, inventive, a "Mr. Fix It" with knowledge beyond his years. Bill "Pop" was the best Secret Santa any Granddaughter could have asked for. Left to cherish his many memories include his wife Susan, daughter Jane (Damon Lutz) and his granddaughter Cassidy "Cassie" all of Sioux City, IA. His sister Sheila (Michael) Sangster, and niece Tess of Aurora, CO. Mother-in-law Gilda Mize, brother-in-law Bill (Molly) Mize, sister-in-laws Karin Ahrens, Sally (Jimmy) Bleil, Nancy (Chuck) Wilcox, many nieces, nephews; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his father-in-law Bill Mize, Jr.
