Constance "Connie" S. Riley, 86, of Sioux City passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Friday, March 7, 2014, at a Sioux City hospital. A celebration of Connie's life will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with the Rev. Merlin Schrad officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with a 4 p.m. rosary said by the Catholic Daughters, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Connie was born on July 11, 1927, in Sioux City, the daughter of Joseph and Zeta (Duggan) Sullivan. Connie attended Briar Cliff College and was employed as a phone operator with Northwestern Bell and later with St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Patient Accounts. She married William G. Johnson on July 29, 1950, in Sioux City and had five children. Later, Connie married LaVaughn C. Riley on Oct. 6, 1976, in Denver, Colo. Connie was proud of her Irish heritage. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Connie was a wonderful example of faith, strength and love who will be remembered as "Grandma Honey" and a well-dressed "classy" lady whose presence lit up the room. She cherished her friendships and loved making memories with her family. Connie was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, The Catholic Daughters, P.E.O., St. Luke's Auxiliary and was an active supporter of the Carmelite Nuns in Sioux City. Connie is survived by her five children, Duggan Johnson of Big Stone City, S.D., Catherine (Richmond) Mowry of Littleton Colo., Joni (Corey) Noonan of Springdale, Ark., Denny (Dorothy Cowles) Johnson of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Maggie (Tim) Norton of Sioux City; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers; two sisters; and one grandchild. Memorials may be given in her name to The Carmelite Nuns in Sioux City.
