Rodger E. Heck, 89, of McCook Lake, SD, formerly of Jefferson, SD passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at a Sioux City Hospital. Masonic Rites and funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Rev. Jeff Vore officiating. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to service time at the funeral home. Per his wishes, his body will be cremated following the service and burial will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com Rodger was born on October 25, 1924 in Dakota County, NE to William D. and Freda (Hall) Heck. He graduated from Central High School. He was united in marriage to Eva Pranschke on June 27, 1964 in Sioux City. He worked for 30 years in appliance maintenance for Midwest Electric. Rodger enjoyed fishing, playing pool, bowling, watching and playing golf and was still a competitive cribbage player. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to family and friends. He was a member of the North Riverside Masonic Blue Lodge #662 and Ark United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife Eva Heck of McCook Lake, SD; children Marlene (Tom) Peters of Sioux City; Madonna (Dennis) Golden of Sioux City; nephew Jim Heck who he raised like a son of Indiana; Crystal Jorgensen of Sioux City; Janet (Bill) Dennison of McCook Lake, SD; and Pamella (Alan) Stokely of McCook Lake, SD; 12 grandchildren Shawn (Jody), Shelley, and Frank Peters, Wendy (Daron) Jacobson, Melissa Golden, Denise Houts, Courtney Sterling, Lacey (Andrew) Storm, Lindsay Kluver, Heather, Steven (Kellsie), and Paul Oberg; 12 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 3 brothers Gerald, Merle and Russell Heck.
