Clifford E. Stapleton, Jr., of South Sioux City, NE passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Matney's Colonial Manor in South Sioux City, NE. Services will be on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. Clifford was born on September 17, 1948 in Sioux City to Clifford E. and Bessie (Hughes) Stapleton, Sr. He worked for several years at Mercy Medical Center in the Environmental Department and most recently for Memorial Park Cemetery. He was married to Ilona McNeil on September 18, 1992 in Sioux City, IA. He enjoyed wildlife, fishing, dancing, collecting various Eagle items and he loved sitting by his truck having a cold one. He is survived by his wife Ilona Stapleton of South Sioux City, NE; son Shane (Bobbi) Stapleton of Dakota City, NE; step son Corey (Amanda) Day of Sioux City; step daughter Cindy (Joe) Mares of Sioux City; 12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 3 brothers Gary Stapleton; Fred Berndt; Art (Pam) Berndt; 3 sisters Judy Painter; Martha (Randy) Norgaard; and Donna Hildebrand all of Sioux City. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Rose Stroman.
