Leonard J. Schoenherr, 70, of Sioux City passed away on Wednesday, August 06, 2014 at Burgess Hospital in Onawa, Iowa. Funeral services will be on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4-8 p.m. with family present from 6-8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Leonard was born on May 21, 1944 in Mapleton, Iowa to Joe and Twila (Hanson) Schoenherr. He worked as a Welder for 37 years at Amarican Equipment and Wilson Trailer. He was married to Janet Flammang on September 12, 1964 in Sioux City. Leonard and Janet enjoyed going to movies and dances in their younger years. He also enjoyed fishing, watching tractor pulls and chuck wagon races. He loved spending time with family and attending his grandchildren's activities. He is survived by his wife Janet Schoenherr of Sioux City; 2 sons David (Jill) Schoenherr of Sioxu City and Leonard (Deanna) Schoenherr, Jr. of Florida; 3 daughters Kimberly (Lynn) Smith of LeMars, IA; Cindy Poppema of Sioux City and Tammy Schoenherr of Sioux City; 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew Mark.
