Mary E. Haggin, 86 of Sioux City, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at a local nursing facility. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the Whitfield United Methodist Church with Pastor Liz Tucker officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel on Friday, January 16th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with family present at 5:00 p.m. and a Prayer Service beginning Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com Mary was born on July 24, 1928 in Sioux City, Iowa to Jesse and Edith (Hart) Haggin. She graduated from Central High School with the Class of 1947. Mary worked as a cashier at a local theater, was a homemaker, and worked for various nursing homes in the Siouxland area as a dietary aide and assisting in housekeeping. She was a live-in companion for an area resident for several years. Mary enjoyed playing cards, playing BINGO, reading, and watching movies. She found great joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mary was a lifetime member of Whitfield United Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir for over 20 years. Mary is survived by her son Terry of California; son Terry (Linda) of Virginia; son Gerry (Connie) of Sioux City; daughter Kerry (Jeff) Evans of Sioux City; and Merry (Omar) McQuillen of Virginia; 21 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Madeline Powers and Agnes Johnson, one grandson Jeremy Evans, niece Pam Davis, daughter-in-law Peggy Haggin, and two great-aunts.
