Neal G. Mischo

Neal G. Mischo, 80 of Dakota Dunes, SD passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at a Sioux City hospital after a courageous 7 year battle with ALS. Services will be at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Rev. Dennis Meinen will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. Monday with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Monday, all at the funeral home. Neal was born January 7, 1935 in Sioux City; he was the son of August and Mabel (Barenklau) Mischo. He grew up in Sioux City and graduated from East High School in 1953. Neal served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1959. Neal married Judy Fellwock in 1962 and to this union two children were born, Teri and Craig. He married Vikki (Oleson) Jensen in 1984. Neal joined the Sioux City Fire Department in 1961 and was a fire fighter for 31 years, retiring in 1992. He enjoyed cars, boating, golfing and spending time with 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Neal is survived by his wife, Vikki of Dakota Dunes; a daughter: Teri McCallum (Scott) of Sioux City and their son, Ryan Behr, a son: Craig Mischo (Michelle) of Woodbury, Minn., and their children Christian Mischo (Jenna), Madi Mischo and Ryker Mischo; a son: Brad Jensen of Denver, CO, a daughter: Lori Jensen of Denver, CO; 2 great grandchildren: Colton and Chloe Mischo. Pallbearers will be Gary and Dick Bathurst, Terry, Chad and Larry Oleson, Wayne Kurle and Bob Dahl. Memorial may be directed to the ALS Associations of Sioux City or Des Moines, IA.
